Marty loves cooking and had an incredible knowledge of how to layout a kitchen efficiently. We're thrilled with how the kitchen turned out and love cooking for small groups of friends. He helped us choose materials that would be cohesive and walk the line between modern and the original character of our house. We can't imagine the kitchen turning out any better.

Marty was the architect for the recently completed major remodel of the main floor of our home (kitchen, bathroom, hallway, coat closet/built-ins, and master closet). Marty was so easy to work with through every phase of our project, and we would give him our highest recommendation. He was patient with us as we took our time determining exactly what we wanted to do with our space, and each iteration of drawings made clear how well he listened to what we wanted and needed from our space.

Marty Buckenmeyer designed the plans for a pretty major remodel for our 1925 house. We had our basement finished, including adding a half bath; kitchen remodeled, full bathroom added on third floor and brand new stairways to both floors. Marty came to us with ideas and options for everything!

On top of the excellent work Marty is a super nice, easy going guy. He really listened to what we wanted and turned our ideas into the plans for our dream home. He is organized, on time and always made us feel like we were his #1 priority.

Marty is THE guy I turn to and recommend to my customers when they want to create spaces that are fresh and new but respectful of the "era" of their homes. He has a keen eye and can quickly visualize how to transform a space. His ideas are solid, the details subtle and the spaces truly buildable. I’d highly recommend him, you wont be disappointed.

We wanted to express our gratitude for the wonderful service Marty Buckenmeyer of Buckenmeyer Architecture provided my wife and me during the initial stages of our residential home remodel. It was important to us to maintain the original appeal and charm of our 1928 house yet bring in new life to the kitchen and basement.

Marty Buckenmeyer did a fantastic job. At our original meeting he took notes and measurements on our existing house. He listened to everything we wanted to accomplish. A week later he had created a scale model of our original house and three possibilities for our remodel. All three would accomplish our goals in different ways.

After we picked one design, Marty then helped us to develop our plans down to the finishes. When we hired a contractor we were able to hand him a very detailed plan for what we wanted. The level of detail made the process of hiring a contractor and working with him as he constructed our new kitchen as smooth as it could possibly be.

It was great to work with Marty on our house remodel. Through a few design studies informed by rough contractor estimates, Marty helped us focus on what was the most feasible/affordable project to help our house reach its potential. Marty then developed a multitude of options for our project and brought many great ideas we hadn’t considered before. These ideas helped to really tie the space together, add more light, and retain the character of our 90+ year old bungalow – all priorities for us. We ended up with an amazing kitchen, additional bedroom, larger living space, and much more functional layout. We would highly recommend working Marty based on our experience.

Having had fairly extensive experience in working with Architects on commercial projects for my business I was quit sure I knew what we wanted when designing a small addition/ADU for our house. We had somewhat modern sensibilities and ideas for a project to be added to a traditional Sellwood home. What we have now is exactly that, a modern addition that blends very well with the home it is attached too. Marty is a good listener and took those ideas and then gave us something beyond the limits of what we had in mind. We appreciated Marty's ability to bring his creative designs into a practical budget. Highly recommended.

Marty Buckenmeier was a great fit for our project, our budget and the architectural aspirations we had for our remodel. He provided us designs at varying levels of cost and complexity, since we did not know how much remodels can cost. He worked with us to address our most important priorities first, and suggested professionals we could work with to get the work done. Finally, he is a member of our community with kids of his own. It seemed to us that he understood where we were coming from and where we wanted to go with our 1920s bungalow home.

We have been working with Marty on a large renovation project for our house/garage. He has been wonderful to work with in every way. His designs and ideas are creative, thoughtful, and insightful. Even though we are quite indecisive, he has been amazingly patient with us. We've never felt rushed. He has gently led us forward with our project. We would recommend him without reservation.

I own a small residential remodel company (Old School Renovations, Inc.) in Portland, OR. Marty has provided basic permit plans and full design services for several of my clients. Marty is as eager to work on the removal of a kitchen wall as he is a full two room addition. He has a great eye for detail (duh) and his x-ray vision comes in handy when pre-planning structural changes to a home. I never hesitate to refer Marty to a client regardless of the size of job. You'll love him.

At our request, Marty Buckenmeyer created a 10-year remodel plan for our house. We wanted to be able to remodel in phases (kitchens & baths, basement, upstairs). He met with us multiple times to figure out what we wanted, gave us a myriad of great options to mix-and-match from, and helped us figure out what made sense both functionally (what improvements made sense) while also respecting the existing architecture. His insights into how we use the house and how to get what we wanted out of the house were excellent. Totally worth every penny!
